Time for another week in review. I don’t know if you guys are even interested in my week, but I put it on here also for my own way of keeping a memory of my life.
Whew! What a week!
I don’t know about you, but life just seems to be speeding by so fast I can’t keep up.
Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July holiday!
Monday started out with my hubs getting hurt. We give God thanks because 1 vertebrae up and he could have broken his back. He’s been really sore and careful all week. It sure could have been worse.
That same day, some of our kids were over grilling out with us and we celebrated 4th of July with them and did some fireworks that night. They left around 10 pm so I headed in to get a shower. So, I’m in the shower and I hear my alarm on my phone go off, you know, the weather one. I think, oh well, it’s probably just flooding or something. About a minute later I hear my daughter, the one who had left about 5 minutes ago, yelling in my door to get out of the shower we have to take cover immediately! A-N-D she is telling me our other daughter who lives in town was home alone with her 2 little ones and didn’t have a car because her fiance drove it to work and she had no way to get to a cellar! I’m yelling that I’m standing in the shower naked and can’t help either one of them, just get to a cellar. Only thing is, none of us have a cellar. Only 1 person I know has a cellar and his is full. So I get dressed as fast as I can and go out and the little girls are crying their heads off scared to death and so I start praying with them. I tell them the story of how Jesus calmed the storm. I tell them we’ve lived in this same house for 30 years and it’s never blown away. We just had to hunker down and be brave with Jesus by our side. So they laid down on the floor and I think they calmed down some (and no, there is no community shelter).
Of course, the storm passed and it was a bad one with tornadoes right above us, but God is good.
On Tuesday, we went to a get together with our church and had a lot of fun. We always do and it is such sweet fellowship. There is nothing like being with those who are truly saved. No bickering, no fussing. Ahhhh…….
On Wednesday, I had to go get labs done. They took 7, yes I said s-e-v-e-n, tubes of blood out of me! Goodness! I looked at all those tubes and said, “Are you going to drain me dry?” and she said, “I’m going to leave you enough just to get to your car” and laughed. Well, the good news is almost all my labs turned out great. Get this ya’ll, I was just recently diagnosed with diabetes 3 months ago and my A1c was 7.3. They don’t want it to be over 6.5, so I was told I have diabetes and put on some medicine. I don’t like the medicine because one of the side effects is IT CAUSES WEIGHT GAIN! Really???? Seriously???? First you tell me to lose weight and then give me a medicine that causes weight gain??? Oh well. Anyways, back to my thought, my A1c went from 7.3 down to 6.0 in 3 months!!!!!!! I know! Great, right?
I ran into Walmart to grab some fish food for our giant fish. I’ll have to show him to you some day. Anyways, what kind of crafty goodness do I find? glue sticks 4/$1.00 (that’s 8 sticks for 1.00!) This is the most common glue I use for my journal every day 🙂 I’ll have to show you that sometime too LOL!
I love it when I find crafty stuff on sale!
Then I ran into Aldi to pick up something and they had hamburger meat $1.40/pound!!! What! I haven’t seen that price in ages! It’s usually $1.99/pound there a lot of times. So I grabbed 2 chubs of it to freeze. Yes, I know. It is the “cheap” kind with lots of fat but for $1.40 a pound, I’m not going to pass it up. It has it’s place.
It’s going in the freezer.
On Thursday, I was able to get out another blog post. It was on my granny’s chicken and dumplings. Yummy!
Ok ya’ll. If you have a really weak stomach you may not want to hear what happened to me on Thursday. It’s the first time it has ever happened in my life. So Thursday was the last day both of us were off as hubs had to go back to work on Friday. So we decide to go out to our daughter’s house and grill burgers and go for a swim in their pool. Now the last time I swam in their pool, I almost couldn’t get in and even had a harder time getting out. My knee would give out every time I would try to pull myself up on the ladder. So I was dreading the getting in and out part, but I actually got in and out fairly easy this time. So we eat this big meal of grilled hamburgers, fries, etc. We then go swimming. I would feel slightly nauseous every once in awhile while I was in there but didn’t think anything of it, just thought I got in too fast after eating. So we’re in there and I just have my arms on a pool noodle just floating and we’re all sitting around floating in the pool just talking. The water is kinda gently moving with people moving around. All of a sudden, I stand up and just know I’m going to throw up. There’s no stopping it. Thankfully, I was right beside the outside of the pool and hurled over the side. It was horrible. Did I get sea sick or something? I don’t get car sick. My daughter does. I think it was just the gentle waves moving and made me sea sick. Sorry if that was too graphic.
Nice relaxing pool time
Me after the “episode” not looking too good
I felt awful as soon as I opened my eyes on Friday and it lasted all day. Horrible. Hurt all over. Miserable day plus on top of my normal hurting every day I had on top of it the new hurt from all being in the pool and swimming. This is what happens when you are as out of shape as I am. My muscles were definitely letting me know about it! I’m typing this on Sunday and they are still yelling at me LOL!
We pretty much chilled on Saturday. Hubs was off, but I had to work. Horrible day at work. We have a different platform they are trying to train us on after working 10 years on another platform and this new one is totally different. I mean, nothing is the same. I hate learning new things when I had the other one down so well. I so want to quit my job. Someday I hope to and hopefully that will be very soon.
It’s another blessed Lord’s day. I love Sundays. I love going to the house of God and worshiping Him and singing songs of praise and fellow-shipping with the people of God and hearing the message. It does good for my soul. It’s what gives me strength for the week. We had church dinner after church. I took BBQ ribs, my famous mashed potatoes, and a sugar free chocolate cake 🙂 I came home, took a nap, got on my computer for a bit and joined a blog hop with my latest blog post, and then went to church again and after church we all went to one of the members house for more fellowship and food. Just clean, good fun.
Here’s one of my Bible pages:
I didn’t get to do any craft work this week as I was working so much on my blog and social media, so I just took a snapshot of my shelf of goodies for you 🙂 This is my new hobby, dot painting on rocks and canvas.
So, how did your week go? I would absolutely love to hear about it! Let me know in the comments below.
Also, did you have a nice 4th of July holiday? Hopefully, no one got hurt 🙂
